These tacos are the perfect meal for a day when you know you won’t want to make dinner, but you also don’t want to go out for dinner.

Slow Cooker Cilantro Lime Carne Asada Tacos

And to be honest, these slow cooker cilantro lime carne asada tacos are so easy to make, I didn’t even make a mess. And for those of you that know me, you know, that keeping a clean kitchen is one of the most difficult parts of cooking for me.

Of course, I was forced to keep my mess segregated to a cutting board because the kitchen counters had been regrouped and couldn’t get wet or messy, but still. No mess was made!

With this recipe, your cook time may vary depending on how big your crockpot is. My crockpot is fairly large so it cooks meats much quicker, however if you have a small crockpot, you may need to cook your meat for slightly longer.

Of course, I paired this delicious slow cooker recipe with the amazing mild salsa from Colorado Kelly (it tastes just like Hacienda’s salsa…promise) and my homemade guacamole recipe.

Ingredients

  • 2 Pounds Carne Asada Meat (or flank steak)
  • 1/4 Cup Olive Oil
  • 1/4 Cup Orange Juice
  • 1/4 Cup Worcestershire Sauce
  • 1/4 Cup Cilantro, chopped
  • 2 Tablespoons Minced Garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey
  • 1 Teaspoon Chili Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Cumin
  • 1 Package Street Taco Tortillas
  • Pico de Gallo
  • Cilantro (for garnish)

Garlic Lime Sauce

  • 1/2 Cup Sour Cream (or greek yogurt)
  • 1 Tablespoon Olive Oil
  • 1/2 Tablespoon Minced Garlic
  • 2 Tablespoons Lime Juice
  • 1/2 Medium Lime, Zested

Instructions

  1. Place your steak on the bottom of your crock pot

  2. In a medium bowl, mix together your olive oil, orange juice, Worcestershire sauce, cilantro, honey, cumin, chili powder and garlic.

  3. Take the mixture and pour it over your meat in the crock pot. Stir the meat and sauce together until the meat is evenly coated.

  4. Cover and cook on low for 4-6 hours. I would start with 4 hours and check periodically. When the meat is done, shred into small pieces (if necessary).

  5. When you are prepared to eat the meat, make the garlic lime sauce.

  6. To make the sauce, simply whisk together in a small bowl the sour cream, olive oil, lime juice, garlic and lime zest.

  7. To enjoy, simply put some meat on your tortilla and drizzle with the garlic lime sauce. I use feta cheese and cilantro to garnish these tacos.

  8. These are adjustments made from Tornadough Alli.
