You guys, can you believe it is that time of the year for all things Fall?

I am stoked! Fresh apples are my kryptonite (among other things of course..)

I (unfortunately) do not have an apple tree but someone I know does and graciously let me pick 20+ apples from her apple tree.

Of course, when I picked that many apples, I had no idea what I would do with them, however, I came up with a few recipes to put the apples to good use!

The first recipe I decided to play with was a homemade cinnamon apple sauce.

I always forget how good homemade cinnamon apple sauce is until I make it in the Fall.

If for no other reason than this recipe will make your house smell delicious, it is simply a must try!

Homemade cinnamon apple sauce is way healthier than most you find in store, and quite honestly, way yummier too!

Ingredients

  • 12 Large Apples
  • 1/4 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Tablespoon Lemon Juice
  • 2 Tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 1 Cup Apple Cider

Instructions

  1. Peel the apples using a apple peeler. Chop up the apples into cubes and slices (I sliced 7 apples and chopped 5).

  2. Mix together all of the ingredients (including the apples) in a large bowl. Note- I use a very strong cinnamon mixture. If you use store brand cinnamon, you may want to add a little more cinnamon.

  3. Place the mixture into a crock pot. Cook on low for 6 hours.

  4. When the mixture is finished cooking, use a masher (of your choosing) to mash up the apples. I recommend using a Mix'n Mash or Mix'n Chop. Serve warm or cooled!

Other Products I Used and Loved With This Recipe:

Crockpot: Having a good crockpot is absolutely essential to getting through the week. Whether you are a mom, a busy entrepreneur or simply love to eat- a crockpot will save you time and energy and is a great way to meal prep! Doesn’t matter if it is this crockpot or a different one, every household MUST HAVE A CROCKPOT! My PSA for the day.

Mix’n Chop: The original use for this handy tool is actually to separate meat while its cooking, however, I find other uses for this little tool all the time. Like today, I used it to separate and mash up cooked apples. It is a “jack of all trades”.

Mix’n Mash: The tool that is actually supposed to be used to mash things up. It works just as well as the Mix’n Chop, it is simply your preference.

Apple Peeler: You guys. This is a total life saver. Especially during the holidays when you are making apple pies. Talk about saving yourself hours of time peeling apples. It is by far one of my greatest investments.

I hope you guys enjoy this delicious and yummy homemade cinnamon apple sauce recipe! I can’t wait to use it for Thanksgiving!
