5 Ways to Make Your First Blog Profits

If you are here you are probably trying to make a profit from your blog. Whether it be a new and upcoming blog or maybe it has been a blog that has been around for a couple of years. Either way, it is never to late to make your first blog profits!

Whether it be $100 or $1000, the first profits you make on your blog are some of the most memorable. It shows that all of your hard work is paying off! By making the first profits on your blog, you get a boost in self confidence and a good indicator that you are moving in the right direction.

Throughout this blog post I will go through and list a few ways you can make easy money on your blog. I have used these strategies to help my blog become profitable and I want to share them with you!

5 ways to make your first blog profits

#1: Affiliate Marketing to make your blog profitable!

You may have heard of affiliate marketing and wondered how it works. Essentially, Affiliate Marketing is getting paid whenever someone uses or buys the product you are promoting. For instance, I am a amazon affiliate. I will leave my affiliate link in a post where I review a product and if someone wishes to purchase that product, they can go through my link and I will get a kickback from Amazon. This is a win-win for both you (as a blogger) and the affiliate company (in the example, Amazon). You get money and they get sales.

Whenever you promote a product, make sure that you absolutely LOVE the product before you become an affiliate. If you become an affiliate for a product that you have never tried and lie to your readers (purposely or not purposely) you lose their trust and they won’t want to continue to read your post. Having readers that trust you is way more important than getting $5 in sales. Trust me on this.

Here are a couple of GREAT Affiliate Programs:

Although Affiliate marketing is a great way to earn passive income, I would always put a disclosure at the beginning of a post with affiliate links. This is to make the reader aware that you will get a kickback if they purchase the products. This makes it EXTRA important for you to try the product beforehand as well!

#2: Advertising to make your blog profitable!

Have you ever gone onto a website and hated the obnoxious ads that pop up out of nowhere and obstruct your view? Yup, this is what those ads are doing. They are making the blogger extra, passive income. Advertising on your site does not make the most money compared to other strategies. Usually, in order to make a decent amount of money off of ads you need to have a lot of viewers (approximately 50,000-100,000 views per month). Yes, those numbers are reading thousands.

Fear not, that doesn’t mean you can’t put ads on your blog. That just means you will need to keep growing your blog in order to see the profit number increase. On the bright side, this form of monetizing is the easiest, most passive way to get profit from your blog. It also requires the least amount of time.

A good advertising company that pairs with new bloggers is Google Adsense. How Adsense works is you get paid when a ad is seen or clicked on. You can pick the ad you want and you can place it where you want. Adsense if fairly simple which makes this a great way to earn passive income with minimal efforts.

5 Easy Ways to Make Your First Blog Profit

#3: Write Reviews/Sponsored Posts to make your blog profitable!

This strategy is used to market products to your audience. Unlike Affiliate Links where the reader must click on the link and purchase something, Writing Reviews and Sponsored Post work in a way that you simply write about a product and in return get paid.

For example: With Grammarly, when you sign up as an affiliate with them you get the chance to win $25. In order to be entered you must try Grammarly and post a honest review about the product. As mentioned above with Affiliate Links, I HIGHLY recommend trying the product first and giving a HONEST review. You do not want to lie to your readers.

In order to do this you will need to join some sponsored content and review sites. When you apply for these programs you will need to submit some information about your blog and possibly some other social media details.

Using this strategy to make your blog profitable is more difficult then some other options. You have to have a blog that stand outs with a clean design and it should have consistently engaged readers. It should be easily indexed by search engines, etc. There is a lot that goes into Sponsored Posts and Written Reviews.

Some sponsored sites that you can apply to are:

  • Sponsoredreviews.com
  • Izea
  • Linqia
  • Maven

Getting entered and preparing your blog are the hardest part of this strategy. Once you have been accepted it is easy to write a review and find products to review!

#4: Guest Posting to make your blog profitable!

This usually requires a fairly good blog audience. If you have an engaged audience guest post will go farther then if you have a unengaged audience. Think of it this way- would you want to pay to put your content on someone else’s blog if they only have 100 views and had an unengaged audience? Your money and efforts would be better spent on a blog with an engaged audience and more views. Now, that does not mean that this doesn’t work if you don’t have 10,000+ viewers. All I am saying is, depending on the guest poster, you may need to build your blog before they want to guest post on your site.

If having some post on your site isn’t something you are interested in, thats OK! You can also switch it around and guest post on other peoples blogs. With that being said, guest posting can work either way. You can pay to be on someone else’s site or they can pay you and vice versa. It truly depends on the situation.

Some ways that you can get involved with other bloggers is through Facebook groups. Facebook groups are a great way to collaborate with other bloggers and build relationships. Simply search “Blogging Groups” in the FB search bar and it usually comes up with TONS of different blogging groups.

Side note: Collaborating with others is one of the best ways to get your blog seen by others. But that will be covered more in future posts 🙂

#5: Selling E-Books to make your blog profitable!

E-books are a great way to make income. Think about it, when you go to other blog sites and they have courses for you to purchase, more often then not, the courses are E-books. With that being said, you don’t have to know anything and everything about blogging or business to write a E-book. You can simply put together a 10-20 page book that covers something that you are knowledgeable about and that your audience would be interested in reading about.

If you create a E-book and sell it for $10 each and sell 10 copies, you have easily made your first $100 on your blog! This is also something that you can put on your blog at different times and into different blog posts. Not only that, but once you create a E-book you never have to create another one if you don’t want to. You can continue to sell your current one as long as it is still applicable.
