Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis | Non Fiction Book Review

I would like to start off by saying, this is not directly related to blogging (although Rachel does have a highly successful Media company started via a blog). This is for any woman wanting to succeed in a blog or business or any mom simply trying to get by. You can be neither of those things and still get some incredible insights from this book. Trust me.

You need dedication, you need motivation and you may even need some inspiration to be successful in blogging. Rachel provides all of these and more. This is why I am recommending this as a blogging resource.

For those of you who have perused my site and found the “Happily Ever After?” content, you know that I am a huge fan of romantic comedies. They are my ultimate go-to for a distraction or relaxation. So you might be wondering, what made me read a nonfiction, motivational book?

The answer to that question is not very clear. The only thing I can think is that I had been having a bad week and figured, “What could it hurt?”

I had been seeing the incredible reviews about Girl, Wash Your Face by Rachel Hollis and I felt inclined to give it a go. If nothing else, I could get a good laugh, right?

Let me say this now- I am so incredibly thankful that I read this book. Rachel is not only hysterical and strong, she is inspiring and motivational for business owners or women simply going through a hard time.

Girl, Wash Your Face” was incredible. I know I’ve said this already but you might as well be forewarned- I’m going to keep saying it. So be prepared or simply go and purchase the book, either way YOU NEED TO READ Girl, Wash Your Face.

Favorites From Girl, Wash Your Face:

The Lie: “No is the Final Answer”

We’ve all been there. At one point or another we have been in a situation where we were told “No”. Maybe it was by a family or friend, maybe by a employer or maybe it was you telling yourself that. Either way, I can almost guarantee that everyone reading this post has taken the word “No” to be the final answer.

After those two letters, you stopped fighting.

I am 100% guilty of this. I was taught, “No means no.”

But does it? In some instances, definitely. In others, not at all.

“The Lie: I’ll Start Tomorrow”

Ok, I know we’ve all said this to ourselves.

Don’t lie.

Why do we do this? Why do we want something so bad but we put it off? Fear of failure? Fear of hating it? Why?

I can’t begin to tell you why you may or may not be avoiding something, but I can tell you that you need to go for it.

I need to go for it.

We all need to chase our dreams. No matter what or who is telling us we can’t or shouldn’t.

Final Thoughts on Girl, Wash your Face:

This book has something for everyone female fighting for something. And although there were a couple chapters that didn’t apply to me (I’m not a mom or a wife) I was still able to take her story and apply it to something in my life. I was still able to get something from these chapters.

The book is an easy read and even on the slight (I mean, 1/99 of a chance) you don’t like the book, her story and writing is hysterical. I was laughing all the way through the book and always wanting to hear her next story.

My absolute favorite quote from this book:

I’m not sure what drove me to read this book, but I can tell you that my outlook has change since reading it. I am going to keep fighting for my dreams. Are you?
